Creating Relationships between Objects

  • This page describes how to establish a relationship between an object and one or more other objects in SPF.
  • This page assumes you have searched for and found the object of interest.
 
Creating Relationships between Objects

Open Actions Menu

1. Open Actions Menu
  • Select the Actions menu icon, located left of the object you want to establish relationships with.
  • The Actions menu opens on the left side of screen.

Select Relationship Builder

2. Select Relationship Builder
  • In the Actions menu, select Relationship Builder.
  • The Relationship Builder window opens.

Tabs

  • There are three (3) tabs (options) for establishing relationships.
  • The current tab is indicated in blue and underlined.  Select the desired tab by clicking it with your mouse.

Pinboard and New Items

4. Pinboard and New Items
  • On the Pins tab, select Pinboard to view a list of items currently on your pinboard.
  • The pinboard is useful for gathering a list of several objects before using the Relationship Builder.
  • On the Pins tab, select New Items to view a list of items currently in your New Items list.

Select Objects

5. Select Objects
  • Select the checkbox beside each object you want to establish a relationship with.
  • You can select more than one object at a time.

Select RELATE

  • Select RELATE to establish the relationship(s).
  • A confirmation box is displayed.
  • If required, select a relationship type from the dropdown list of Available Relationships.
  • Select OK or CANCEL.

Select 'Search' Tab

  • Select the Search tab to open the search bar.
  • Use the search bar to search for required objects.  Refer to Search for Documents using the Search Bar.
  • Note:  The Advanced Search feature is not available here.

  • Select the checkbox beside each object you want to establish a relationship with.
  • You can select more than one object at a time.

Select RELATE

  • Select RELATE to establish the relationship(s).
  • A confirmation box is displayed.
  • If required, select a relationship type from the dropdown list of Available Relationships.
  • Select OK or CANCEL.

Select the 'Existing' tab to display a list of existing relationships.

  • Select the checkbox beside each object you want to terminate a relationship with.
  • You can select more than one object at a time.

Select Terminate

  • Select TERMINATE to terminate the relationship(s).
  • A confirmation box is displayed.  Select OK or CANCEL.
