Document
In SPF, a document object is a nested container that houses the attributes (properties, metadata) of all revisions and versions of a document, along with all files related to each version.
Document Container
A document container is a placeholder that is created when a document is first created in SPF.
It is essentially an empty document (i.e. a stub).
Document Number
(Doc. Number)
The document number (also referred to as the document Name) is automatically generated and assigned to a document container when a new document is created in SPF.
It is based on Project Code, Document Type, Discipline, and an autogenerated sequential number.
e.g 40001-IM-STD-40132
40001 = Jansen Project
IM = Information Services (Discipline)
STD = Standards (Doc Type)
40132 = Sequentially generated number
Document Master
A container that holds, or contains a full history of the entire life cycle of a document.
File
A file is the native file or a PDF, created for a document.
A file is attached to a document.
A file must have the same name as the document to which it is attached, but with a unique file extension (e.g. .PDF, .XLSX, DOCX, etc.)
For example, the following files can be attached to document 40001-FN-60875
40001-FN-ADM-60875.pdf
40001-FN-ADM-60875.docx

Published Document
A published document is a document that has been created and modified using one of the SmartPlant suite of design tools such as SPEL, SPPID, or SP3D, and then published into SPF for sharing with other. SmartPlant design tools push files and metadata from their local storage to the Integrated SmartPlant Foundation storage.
Note: A PDF rendition can automatically be created by SPF when a document gets published from any SmartPlant tool (SPP&ID, SPEL, SPI, S3D) to SPF.
Published Document - Current
The latest issued version of a published document.
Revision
A container within a document that holds multiple versions. The versions represent the history of changes applied to a document for that particular major release.

Tag
A data object representing a physical asset within a plant. Each tag contains information for all relevant properties of the asset. Tags are classified according to a hierarchy of types. Tags are related to virtual objects shown in 2D and 3D models.
Version
One of a potential series of containers within a revision that holds 0 or more files representing the same document.
Work Package
