C&P Formal ApprovalThe C&P Formal Approval workflow is a variation of the Governance Approval workflow (Refer to section Document Endorsement and Approval) The steps for both are the same except that in the case that a document is rejected by either the endorser or the approver, the transmittal is also determined to be rejected.
Often the Governance Approval will be used to circulate a collection of documents, various drawings or other technical information. The endorsement and approval are controlled at a document level so that some information can proceed while other information may need to be revamped. Such a case would constitute a transmittal that has been Partially Approved.
While the CP Formal Approval may also circulate more than a single document, the endorsement and approval applies to all the information “For Approval”. If even a single document is rejected, the collection is rejected and the collection needs to be resubmitted in its entirety.
As noted for the Governance Approval, document revisions are frozen “Locked” as they are approved by document control. Documents only become “Current” once approved in the approval step and their status has changed as specified when the transmittal was created. Refer to sections SPF Transmittals and Workflows and The Life Cycle of a Document to understand the significance of Current.
Important: Supporting material can be included among the information. Only documents with a document status of Issued For Approval will be accessible for signing by all parties. All other information will be locked as “Current” so that the supporting information must be revised in order to be altered.
