Accounting for Published Documents

As engineering estimates the documents that will be needed for the packages in the coming phase of the project, a document stub (placeholder) gets created in SPF for each new document, associated with the established package. The documents are created within the authoring domain of SPF. Some of the documents will be created in a design tool. When the design tool publishes a new document for the first time, a duplicate of the document that exists in the authoring domain is created within the published domain. Engineering must actively reconcile the duplicates by swapping the published document for the authoring document associated to the package and terminating the authoring document.

The following diagram depicts the general process.
