Access to the SPF Desktop ClientUnlike the SPF Web Client which works over the internet on your web browser, the SPF Desktop Client is a local machine application with a few different options for use:
Option 1 – Install the application on your machine
Users must submit a ticket with their home office to get the software installed in adherence with their local administration policies.
Note: Locally installed copies of the application require regular maintenance to ensure that it is up to date with the latest available version of the product.
Option 2 – Access the application through Citrix
Citrix is used to host several applications including the SPF Desktop Client. Traffic over Citrix force us to limit the number of users provided with access to the SPF Desktop Client through Citrix. Known users who may need Citrix specific access to the SPF Desktop Client have been provided access; should you discover that you don’t currently have access and need it, please file a request through Zendesk. The Citrix environment can be accessed from the following link: http://azrhbjvxendc01.hbjv.local/Citrix/StoreWeb/. Please note that Citrix credentials and SPF credentials are different.
Option 3 – Access the application on the server through a shortcut
If the abovementioned two options don’t work, you can access the SPF Desktop Client by creating a shortcut on your desktop with the following properties:
To create the shortcut:
1. Right click on your desktop
2. Select New > Shortcut
3. Paste the path below (Target) into the box for Location \\azrhbjvspfapp01.hbjv.local\SmartPlant\2018\SPFDesktopClient\CurrentVersion\Desktop_Client.exe
4. Click Next
5. Optionally Rename the shortcut
6. Click Finish
7. Right click on the newly created shortcut
8. Click on Properties
9. Paste the path below (Start in) into the box for Start in
\\azrhbjvspfapp01.hbjv.local\SmartPlant\2018\SPFDesktopClient\CurrentVersion
10. Click OK
11. Test the new shortcut.
12. Click Run when prompted (keep in mind that you will need to wait two or three minutes; this access option takes longer to launch, refer to the remarks which follow)
Because this option relies on moving files from the server to your local machine, you should expect it to take some time to launch. Once launched, you will have the expected functionality, but with somewhat slower performance than usual.
Important:
Regardless of the option used, take into consideration the following:
